We recently had the pleasure of meeting the fabulous Mommy blogger Mandy Smith!
Mandy and her beautiful family have recently settled into a lovely home in the Westlake area after a big cross-country move. Remodeling was in order for the older house, and an essential part of making this house into their new home was adding window coverings.
After a search on Yelp, and noting the large number of five-star reviews Austin Window Fashions has earned, Mandy called us and worked with Designer Robin Attridge. Mandy’s artistic eye, in synthesis with Robin’s extensive window covering knowledge, proved to be a winning combination.
We had the good fortune to sneak in a few Before photos of the Smith’s home when Robin came to take the final measurements.
Mandy and Robin picked out a combination of our real wood plantation shutters, and Hunter Douglas’ Luminette Privacy Sheers and Duette Architella honeycomb shades.
Our locally made, Totally Texan shutters were custom painted to match the fresh new interior paint and added the finishing touch to almost every room.
With Mandy’s personal home decor style and the clean, architectural lines of our shutters, many of the gorgeous rooms look straight out of a magazine!
And the Hunter Douglas Luminette Privacy Sheers on the large sliding glass door are to die for!
This wall of windows is perfect for this type of vertical sheer veined window covering.
The subtle linen textured sheer fabric diffuses the light coming in, while the vertical veins can be closed for privacy and room darkening when needed.
And the entire shade can be opened to use the doors to the exterior.
Honeycomb shades like Hunter Douglas’ Duette honeycomb shades are great because they can cover very wide width windows. The Top-Down/Bottom-Up feature on this honeycomb shade is perfect for privacy while still enjoying natural light.
